Accounting Manager

DEPARTMENT: FINANCE

The Opportunity:

Helomics is an Integrated Clinical Contract Research Organization located in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA. Helomics mission is to improve the standard of care for cancer patients through innovative research and development partnerships with pharmaceutical, diagnostic, biotechnology, and academic organizations, leading to better and more personalized treatments and diagnostic technologies for human disease. Helomics’ CLIA-certified lab provides clinical testing that assists oncologists and surgeons in individualizing patient treatment decisions.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: (Include the following: other duties may be assigned)

Helomics is seeking a highly motivated person to manage the back office accounting functions for the Company. The Accounting Manager will manage the Financial Analyst and Accounts Payable Associate and work cross functionally with all departments.  The successful candidate must be highly organized, detail oriented, versatile, and an excellent communicator.

 

Key functions in the position will include, but not limited to:

 

  • Responsible for the following balance sheet accounts:

    • Cash and short term investments

    • Fixed Assets (tangible & intangible)

    • Sales commissions and other benefit accruals

    • Royalty accruals

    • Inventory

    • Corporate card accrual

    • Accounts Payable

  • Reporting Responsibilities

    • Responsible for all sales reporting & CRM support

    • Responsible for all lab operations and inventory reporting

    • File monthly sales & use tax activities with the state

    • Back office Concur support and T&E expense report review and processing

    • Maintain Sales quotas & compensation calculations

    • Responsible for the treasury management function

    • Oversee the Accounts Payable function

  • Provide all Financial Support for the Following Functions:

    • Sales & Marketing

    • Client Services

    • Clinical Information Management

    • Lab Operations

    • Research and Development

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Education requirements:

    • Minimum Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in either Finance or Accounting

    • CPA and/or MBA a plus

 

  • Experience: 

  • 5 - 10 years of experience in finance and accounting, including some management experience

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Team player with a positive attitude that is focused, driven and takes pride in their work

  • Ability to analyze, interpret data and make recommendations

  • Capable of learning and growing within a fast paced environment

  • Well developed and effective communication skills

  • Proficient Microsoft Office Tools (Excel-Spreadsheets & Pivot Tables, Word)

  • Experience with Sage AccPac a plus

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and US GAAP
