Inventory Specialist Part-Time


The Opportunity:

Helomics is an Integrated Clinical Contract Research Organization located in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA. Helomics mission is to improve the standard of care for cancer patients through innovative research and development partnerships with pharmaceutical, diagnostic, biotechnology, and academic organizations, leading to better and more personalized treatments and diagnostic technologies for human disease. Helomics’ CLIA-certified lab provides clinical testing that assists oncologists and surgeons in individualizing patient treatment decisions. 



This is a specialized profile in which the individual is required to multi-task and adjust to the workings of a dynamic environment.  Candidate will be accountable for inventory management functions while coordinating with internal as well as external sources of the organization.  This job requires organizing, planning and timely allocation of goods in accordance with the budgetary set points.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Person will perform a range of supply duties to include but not limited to, receiving, materials handling, warehousing and product research/sourcing.  Duties may also include backup to other team members, interaction with vendors and preparation of Standard Operating Procedures according to Regulations.


  • Receives materials and performs inspection in accordance with documented procedures

  • Evaluate cost movement of company products and assess the purchase and invoice details

  • Process all receiving transactions in applicable inventory management system

  • Replenish stock in the warehouse as well as fill orders

  • Forecasting and estimating the potential stock requirements, based on sales reports

  • Tracking the transportation and distribution of inventory

  • Maintaining the recording of all stock items and compiling evaluation reports

  • Conducting weekly audits of inventory levels

  • Assigning location tags and labels for all housed merchandise

  • Noting and tracking of lost and damaged shipments

  • Performing weekly vendor audits for incoming products

  • Willingness and ability to assist with all aspects of the Materials Department job functions

  • Maintaining product sheets, drawings and other significant documentation for products

  • Any other duties assigned / requested




  • Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Associates with significant experience will be considered



Skills and Specifications:


  • Knowledge of computer and working with inventory software and programs

  • Possess strong calculative and analytical skill sets

  • Ability and effectiveness to manage time to meet required deadlines

  • Good written and oral communication skills for interacting and coordinating work within the organizational structure

  • Possess good organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to follow guidelines of the Standard Operating Procedures for each operation in the process to conform to GMP and ability to assist with the establishment of these guidelines

  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment, i.e. Pallet jack, hand cart

  • Ability to lift, push or pull up to 75 lbs.

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and clearance to drive

  • Process excellent customer relation skills
